Administrator Standard 1 Reflection
"In my practice, I was fortunate to create relevant curriculum. I researched innovative teaching strategies and best practices which allowed me to implement new student assessments, differentiation, learning objectives, and grading practices. This change in practice was difficult because it is a shift from teacher-centered instruction to student-centered learning. All subjective assessments like behavior, effort, and attendance were replaced with standard based learning objectives and skill builders. As a result, students can then progress at their own pace regardless of grade level. "
Administrator Standard 2
"Leads by facilitating the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of learning that is shared by the school community."
Administrator Standard 2 Reflection
"As a school leader, it is vital to build relationships with stakeholders. At the most basic level, listening and making people feel valued. I have been involved in the district’s strategic planning process and new mission development and implementation. Being on the District Leadership Team for 5 years has helped me develop skills and work through higher level district goals that I would not normally have experienced."

Administrator Standard 5
"Models collaborating with families and community members, responding to diverse community interests and needs and mobilizing community resources."
Administrator Standard 5 Reflection
"MDIH offers days off for families of differing religious backgrounds (Jewish, Christian, etc). School staff respect and manage student expectations for these traditions and celebrations. The MDIH Culture Fair every year also celebrates the many diverse cultures we have present every day. We also offer many ways to communicate with stakeholders. We have online resources and communications to families and community through surveys, website, and social media. We also hold many opportunities for families to come into our buildings and provide input and engage in the school community."

Administrator Standard 6
"Acts with integrity, fairness, and in an ethical manner."
Administrator Standard 6 Reflection
"Leaders in any setting should always be cognizant of what the best qualities are for you to lead. When I was first studying to be a teacher 20 years ago, I specifically remember one of my professors saying that “if the students perceive everything you are doing as fair, even in discipline situations, you will be more successful in managing a classroom.” My MBA program has made me do a lot of work researching effective leaders and their leadership styles to make me decide what works best for myself. Much of the leadership work that I’ve done relates to this standard because it promotes the success of all students by acting in an ethical manner."

Administrator Standard 7
"Understands, responds to, and interacts with the larger political, social, economic, legal, and cultural context that affects schooling."
Administrator Standard 7 Reflection
"Much of my work as a communicator uses this standard. Often times I need to look at the big picture of how our district fits into web presence trends. My work this summer to pursue my school business manager license also dealt with a lot of learning about the issues for standard 7.
I have been working to foster relationships with our community partners. I am the main communications editor and creator of online collaborations between community and parent organizations; constantly connecting with our partners helps build mutual respect. I have also worked with the business manager to submit Federal grants and reviewed the grant process to ensure all students have an equal opportunity to succeed."

Final Reflection - Administrator Standards
"The one major emphasis from the MBA-EL program was the idea of building a positive culture which is the understanding of Admin Standard 3. Understanding how to lead and create a positive culture is of the utmost importance in the current educational setting. My coursework gave me many opportunities to research culture models and how systems help or hinder school culture. This was the main focus of my clinical practice project "
